On 14 March 2024, the company ZERA GmbH hosted a workshop on the metrological measurement of EV charging stations. Together with the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (University of Applied Sciences), represented by Prof. Dr Marco Jung, Institute for Technology, Resource Conservation and Energy Efficiency (TREE), Dr Simon Roth and Ms Claudia Dietrich (both Centre for Science and Technology Transfer (ZWT)), new ideas for a concept for the on-site measurement of charging stations for electric vehicles were presented.
The basis for further development is the very successful EMOB series, which consists of test cases for currents from 32 A to 80 A AC and 200 A to 500 A DC. The aim of the workshop was to define a forward-looking, flexible and efficient test solution.
The participants in this event included well-known manufacturers, operators and repairers of charging stations, calibration offices from German-speaking countries and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Braunschweig.
Throughout the course of the one-day workshop, a focus on the requirements for the metrological testing of charging stations became clear. The intensive discussion of the various perspectives on the topic of e-mobility enabled all participants to gain a comprehensive overview of this complex topic. The constructive and productive dialogue among the participants resulted in valuable insights and pushed us significantly closer to our goal of advancing the innovative further development of our EMOB test cases.
